Mt. Rainier via the Disappointment Clever (DC), July 5-7, 2014

Our Team: Josh, Aaron, Jon, Al, Tim, Dave, Lane and Jeff
Final gear check and lacing on our boots at the trailhead.
Aaron, we're not in Omaha!

hiking up to Camp Muir

Andy came along for the first day and helped us get to Muir, packing some surprise gifts along the way.

He also helped us set up camp.

Skies were clear, but these clouds foretold of some wind ahead.

relaxing in camp, melting snow for water, and getting mentally prepped for the summit later tonight.

taking a rest break on Ingraham Glacier, after leaving camp at 1am.

The camera was stored in my pack and I missed the most awesome sunrise, but here we are on the summit around 6:30AM.

Sure enough, the winds came.

The summit was encased in a lenticular cloud.

not much of a view from the top this time.

we spent 10 minutes or so in the summit crater and began the descent.

There were still groups making their way up

some of the crevasses we had to negotiate up high.

taking a break just above the Clever

Time to shed some layers as we descend below the lenticular and the winds.

Aaron finally realizes he has summited and survived and began talking again.

fueling up

The summit is still encased in a cloud, but the sun is starting to heat us up.

the route was well established

Almost time to install that ladder over this expanding crevasse.

Our last break at Ingraham Flats

Cathedral Gap and then home

Although sunny, the wind was persistent.

resting, rehydrating, refueling

Josh breaking camp. He was our McGyver who fixed the tent poles that snapped in the wind during the first night.

Headed down the Muir Snow field towards home

working our way down...Rhonda, I'm headed home!
