The four of us started pedaling shortly after 8. The roads were quiet and one stretch of county road saw one car in 10 miles on fresh tarmac. One of the best riding conditions ever.
After 20ish miles we stopped in Harris for a second breakfast in Kaffe Stuga Cafe. The owners proudly displayed their Swedish ancestry. Rhonda surprised us by ordering biscuits and gravy.
Getting ready to hit the road we met Lisa who was riding solo across the country on her bicycle. In addition to riding 80ish miles a day, she also is pursuing to ride a century(100 miles) in every state. After a visit she took off. No way we could keep up.
Nearing 43 miles , we had to say goodbye to Mark. He is heading into Minneapolis to visit with some friends and meet his wife who flew in from home. Mark and Steve have been riding together since western North Dakota. Mark, ride well, be safe, peace to you on your journey.
Steve is joining us for a couple days and now we are camped in Wisconsin’s Interstate State Park. Our campsite overlooks the St Croix River.
We are now eating Vienna Beef Hotdogs and Malts at Schoony’s Soda Shop and Pizzeria (although they are not serving pizza) in Taylor’s Falls. After the food settles we will walk back across the bridge and to camp.
Tomorrow we start riding northeast across Wisconsin.
