Back home at Sylvia’s, our bike bags barfed again as we emptied everything out in order to wash all the contents. Funny thing is… you don’t realize how much you like scented, good laundry soap until you have been washing your clothes in the shower, sink & even laundry mats! Gain detergent is pretty good, just like the commercial says it is!
After these basics were taken care of, July 4th was spent celebrating at Cousin Carie’s home. Wonderful place on the lake! We got dad into the house with many stairs. Then I took a lake swim because I could. Charlie made delicious burgers & we ate well including strawberry shortcake.
Monday, we gathered dad to take a trip to Fargo to get our bikes routinely adjusted. We met Uncle Denny for lunch, good to catch up. The bike shop was great (The Great Northern Bike Shop); great is even in it’s name! They fixed our bikes in several hours. Wouldn’t have even been possible without Cousin Scott loaning us his truck for the day. The day was getting too long for dad so we drove him back to Fergus Falls and then drove back to Fargo, (2 trips, 4 hours total).
Tuesday, the much needed rain finally came! The farmers really need this rain as it is unusually dry here also. We are repacking, revisiting our itinerary, reuniting with family and feeling rejuvenated!!! We feel so ready to roll again & are just so appreciative of all the kindness our family has given us as a great retreat from the heat. There is such a warmth & willingness to go out of their way to give us what we needed. We feel so well cared for & loved! Tomorrow we roll on down the Central Lakes Trail for a comfortable day of riding.
