Day Off- Holland part 2

The threatened storm never appeared. There was lightening and thunder in the distance but it bypassed us north. We stayed dry on this eve before a rest/recovery day.

I awoke to the cries and calls of a family of Osprey announcing their breakfast catch. I built a cup of coffee and watched as the youngster of the family ate from a branch above our tent.

It was a liesurely morning as we eased into our rest day. In addition to some recovery time we had a few necessary errands to make. The first was breakfast. Apparently they like brunch around here. We did find a Tim Horton’s open so I thought I’d experience Canada’s best coffee, eh. We noticed a laundromat across the street and checked off our second errand.

Walgreens  was on the list for needed and unneeded items: new tooth brush, toothpaste, sunscreen that we forgot, new reading glasses (no more excuses for me), soap, and we found some food items like bars and oatmeal. Oh, and some chocolate. Hey, it’s a day off.

I lost my taillight the other day so we went searching for an open bike shop. Rock ‘n’ Road Cycle was open. A nice full service and well equipped shop. While their we met a recently retired couple crossing the country on a custom carbon tandem having its gates carbon belt drive and rohloff hub serviced. Oh yeah, I needed a taillight, which I found along with some Squirt chain lube I like (gates carbon belts don’t need chain lube),  some shot blocks (candy disguised as an endurance athletic supplement) and a package of electrolyte drink mix. We escaped without buying anymore cycle jerseys.

We crossed town ,stopping at a city park mid town, in search of our motel room where we haven’t left since finding door dash pizza delivery.
