Today as we glided along backroads of beautiful beach homes (and smooth, new pavement) what wasn’t to enjoy? I have absolutely loved these small, shoreline villages. Today it was Saugatuck, on a calm clear bay with a charming downtown, Douglas, where we had a great breakfast at Blue Star Cafe and South Haven, where we watched the drawbridge go up to let through a large sailboat. Time seems to move a little slower in these towns. Such a nice reminder for us as we still struggle to sometimes be in a hurry.
As I rode along, I thought about all the beautiful homes & the work it must take (someone to do) to keep everything so manicured. There are places with amazing gated entries to their beachfront properties that still had me in awe. But I started thinking about all the beautiful wild flowers I ride by each day. They are in full color and fill along the sides of most roads. They are beauty that no one has to manicure; they just show up and shine. Then there are all the gorgeous flowers as decoration all over these small towns. The hydrangeas are incredible here because they are just loaded with colorful blooms or snowy white huge flower clusters. The flowers remind me that it really isn’t about the things we have or build or wish we had; it is about what God has so graciously provided for us to enjoy. I changed my focus about what was constantly catching my attention, the fancy, beautiful homes to all the natural beauty that is all around me.
We are comfortably camped at Sweet Cherry Resort and I can truly appreciate our spot in a rustic ma & pa run place.
And we are missing these two guys
