Warm Showers enjoyment again tonight. Indiana & Ohio have been hard to find camping and sometimes motels. Yesterday, we spent about 2 1/2 hours or more just trying to find where we are going to stay for the next couple of nights. I kept putting out feelers for Warm Showers for the area from Huron, OH to Erie, PA. Luckily we scored three Warm Showers for this week. It was a lot of work because campgrounds & motels were all full. Lance welcomed us even though he already had one cyclist staying here. It is a nice way to tour & I am really excited to host cyclists touring when we get home.
We stayed in Bowling Green in a motel for two nights. Good thing because there was a thunderstorm last night & rain until 8:00 am. Supposed to have thunderstorms most of the week with high temperatures & high heat index. We left in wet conditions with all our rain gear accessible. The moisture we experienced today was high humidity, no rain!
We rolled through many small towns, corn fields and bike paths to arrive at Huron, OH. We had a nice tailwind today also. It was kind of like dead air because we were moving about the same rate as the wind. But sure nice to increase our speed as we traveled.

We stopped in Clyde at the end of the rails to trails and found the Blue Collar Bistro. The shop was a take out and delivery only but very popular so we ordered then set our camp stools up in the shade on the side of the shop.
In honor of Mark Bertram we snacked on crumbly donettes.
Mark wishes he was still with you for this part of your journey ~ especially as you were so close to where he grew up in Marion and where he worked at Salamonie Reservoir! You were riding all of the roads he rode when he first started cycling. SMILE! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd of course, the package of mini donuts will give you all the energy you need to keep you going.
Love you and miss you, Becky for the Bertrams
